Parish International Lunch Day Sun 30th Sept 2018:
St. Simon and St. Jude R.C. parish celebrated its annual Parish International Lunch day, on Sunday 30th September 2018.
As with past celebrations, hosting the international lunch day was an opportunity for the parish to both reach out to the community and parish in a social setting and also celebrate the diversity within the parish.
The Sunday celebrations commenced with the one mass at 11.00 a.m. followed by an open invitation to all parishioners and local community to join everyone in the wonderfully decorated and presented parish hall where a delight of different varieties of food were available to purchase, share and enjoy together. The bar provided various beverages, tea and coffee was also available.
Fr. Habte noted that 'This day enhances our unity as a community as we 'break bread' together, while appreciating and celebrating our diversity. An astounding 22 countries were represented, and the parish raised £887.67 as part of the fund raising effort. Thanks go out to all those involved in any capacity, organisers, volunteers and people who have prepared ,cooked and served food, baked cakes or donated different gifts'.
Working together as a parish and community the generosity poured forth to help make this annual event into a successful day.
Thank you again and may God bless you all - Rev. Fr. Habte
