Events for 2018:

Mark your calendarsUp-Coming Events for the year 2018. There are a large range of activities listed below covering almost all interests. The list is not inclusive or exhaustive but serves as a guide, it includes social justice events, pilgrimages, choral workshops, liturgical events, weekend retreats, parish events such as, dances, BBQ, local parish fund raisers and more. Please make a note of the dates in your diary or electronic device. You are warmly invited to participate in these events, please do get involved and engaged with our community and parish.

Our Social Events: Our parish is the center where our spiritual and sacramental needs are fulfilled through the pastoral care we receive, mainly from the parish clergy supported by every parishioner. Our parish is a vibrant, close-knit parish community. It is also located in one of the most multicultural areas of London; we belong to a universal Church and a truly diverse neighbourhood.

Our social events help to bring and bind our diverse parish community together and further strengthen that community bond and unity. We all constantly strive to promote a sense of family and community in our parish. This begins with all our liturgical celebrations and extends to our social activities, of which we host a number every year.

Our Parish has an active social events and fundraising committee whose ministry supports, promotes and works together to foster community cohesion, bringing us together through this ministry. The Committee helps to organize parish social activities. These activities provide occasions for socialising and celebrating together. They also provide opportunities for sharing our faith and supporting one another on our journey through life together.

We encourage members of the parish to support and join the social events and fundraising committee.

Gathering in Liverpool – 7th, 8th & 9th September 2018

Adoremus Congress Liverpool 2018

The Bishops of England and Wales will hold a National Eucharistic Pilgrimage and Congress in Liverpool next year.

Eucharistic Congresses are gatherings of clergy, religious and laity which promote an awareness of the central place of the Eucharist in the life and mission of the Church. The last International Eucharistic Congress in England was held in 1908.

On Friday 7th September, there will be a Theological Symposium, with workshops for parish catechists, (especially for those involved in First Holy Communion programs), RE teachers, Hospital and Prison Chaplains, Seminary Communities and Extraordinary Ministers. The day runs from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Numbers for this are limited so places need to be booked when the booking process opens. Click here for details

The morning will feature three Keynote addresses:

The Scriptural Context - given by Canon Mervyn Tower
The Eucharist in the life of the Church - given by Canon David Oakley
Teaching the Eucharist - given by Sr Margaret Atkins OSA

The afternoon will be a series of presentations, allowing the delegates to choose three talks out of a set of nine to attend. The Diocese has been allocated places for 124 delegates.

On Saturday 8th September, in the ACC Liverpool Echo Arena, there will be a six Adoremus Congress Liverpool 2018 hour stage led event with two key note addresses, various presentations with music, drama, prayer and adoration. This day will be open to a general audience, and 10,000 people are expected. Southwark has an initial allocation of 570 delegate places.

The invited speaker for the event is Bishop Robert Barron. He is well known as an author, theologian and evangelist, particularly for his Word on Fire ministry. He has served as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles since September 2015.

On Sunday 9th September the Congress Masses will be celebrated at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral followed by an outdoor procession. The numbers for the Cathedral will be limited so these also require booking.

There are seven themes now emerging for the Congress:
